- Discuss the second practice: We glorify God in sports by displaying godly character in sports.
- Most athletes care more about winning than about character development. Agree or disagree? Why or why not?
- What order would you rank the following in order of importance: winning, skill development or displaying godly character. Discuss your answer.
- Does anyone celebrate godly character? If so, who is this and why do they do so.
- What are some specific ways you and your teammates can celebrate godliness?
- What is the danger of only focusing on godliness and ignoring skill development? How do you find the proper balance?
- There are at least two ways you can display godly character in sports. The Bible teaches that every Christian displays some fruit in their lives. Read John 15:8, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”
There are two types of fruit—attitude fruit (Galatians 5:22-23) and action fruit (Philippians 1:9-11). Give examples of them in sports.
