The FCA team lost a great brother and fellow soldier Monday night. Well, we didn’t lose him…we know right where he is, but we will miss him greatly! Everywhere Doyle and Melanie went (and that’s a lot of places as most of you know!) they immediately got involved with the FCA huddle and if there wasn’t an FCA huddle, they started one. I can’t think of another coaching couple who were more involved and impacted more lives for Christ here in Nebraska than Doyle and Melanie Denney. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our Lord alongside them.
Doyle’s home-going has left a huge hole in our hearts and on our team. He was a faithful and trustworthy servant who was highly respected within FCA and the Nebraska high school coaching community. We grieve, but that grief is mingled with hope that ultimately wins out. For Doyle, death has no final sting – as the song says, “Jesus has overcome and the grave is overwhelmed.” He is home walking the streets with Jesus!

Please continue to pray for Melanie and their family at this time. The following is a note from Melanie and their family.
Chris Bubak for the FCA team
We are overwhelmed with the sudden loss of our husband, dad, and grandpa, but we know he was ready to depart for Heaven at any moment. Doyle Denney loved life and lived it to the fullest every day, but he loved his quiet time with the Lord most of all, maybe more lately than any time in his life.
To us, he was the wonderful mix of a leader and a servant. He saw a need and tried to fill it. He loved his family and knew that good coaches struggle with time issues as he had as a young dad. He loved to help coaches in any way he could.
He was a wonderful husband and a caring grandpa. He regularly prayed for needs around him. We have lost a prayer warrior and one big-hearted man. Heaven gained him Monday night just before bedtime after a weekend camping excursion. He had been to a FCA event and had just come home to share his joy over the evening. He was absent from the body and present with the Lord almost immediately. We can’t wait to see him again in glory.
Sean, Seth, Ty, Melanie and the family
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve Jesus with Doyle. He was such a significant part of our FCA-Nebraska team as he used his platform as a coach to train coaches to be what he was for so many years; a coach for Christ. Personally, he cared for me and encouraged me and I am grateful. Well done, Doyle. We will miss you. Prayers and all our love to Melanie. We are here for you”. Nate Lewis – West-Central and Panhandle Area Director
” I was so blessed to have Doyle as my school principal and FCA huddle coach in Lexington and spent the last few years sharing a FCA office with him in Grand Island. He truly exemplified FCA’s core values of integrity, service, teamwork, and excellence which were motivated out of his deep love for the Savior Jesus Christ. Doyle’s life was marked by a consistent and faithful walk with Jesus and a genuine care for other people. I was with Doyle at a FCA workshop just minutes before his passing and I am encouraged to say that he “finished the race” well, pouring his life out for the gospel “to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.” Josh Reynolds – East-Central Area Director
“I met Doyle 5 months ago and my first impression was simple: I could tell he was a man who was intentional about investing, loving, and leading his family. It quickly became evident that this intentional investment in people’s lives extended far beyond his family and into the lives of many throughout the state. I’m encouraged seeing a man who left a legacy for his family and the Kingdom, and I’m challenged to follow his lead in serving Christ up until the very end of my race. I’m grateful for seeing a man who fought the good fight of faith and finished his race well.” Ryan Sears – FCA-Omaha East Metro Area Director
“Doyle loved Jesus and those around him so well! Doyle knew the influence of a coach and intentionally made the most of his own influence as a coach. He embodied servant leadership, care, compassion, humility, wisdom, and generosity making everyone he interacted with feel like the most important person in the world. He and Melanie were a dynamic team that radiated the picture of Christ’s relationship with the church in an incredible way. I count it an honor to have known him and served alongside him! As we grieve the loss of our dear friend, I pray we will also rejoice in the fact that he is enjoying fellowship with God in heaven today and for all eternity because of his faith alone in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!” Robbie Trent – Lincoln Area Representative
