Growing up, I attended church every Sunday. My parents were committed Christians and my grandfather was a pastor. Though I heard the gospel, or good news , about Jesus Christ growing up, it never really made sense to me until I attended a church retreat during my sophomore year in high school. During that retreat, I heard how Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. I was told that by repenting of the sin in my life and trusting in him as Lord and Savior, I could have eternal life and avoid God’s wrath. After making this commitment, I was baptized in the ocean. Now, when I think about the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, it motivates me to play hard on the football field for His glory. Sports are no longer about my selfish goals and ambitions but rather about bringing Him the glory through my attitudes and action. Please visit www.nebraskafca.org for more from Rex.
Favorite verse: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”
What an amazing testimony! Rex,just knowing that you play your best for Christ every gameday makes the game for me. I LOVE watching you when your on the field and on the sidelines,as you encourage the other backs and players. Your humble attitude really shines on and off the field. Good luck the rest of the season and God bless!
